Want to add linseed sealant to your barn tin ceiling tiles? Linseed sealant is a boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits solution we apply in-house before shipping. It creates a thin shellac-like coat that slows further rusting, helps prevent rust rub-off, and adds a touch of shine.
Just choose Yes under "Linseed Sealant Applied" when adding to cart. Linseed is not available on all patinas — some finishes don't benefit from it.

Instructions On How To Install Dakota Tin Ceiling Tiles
Installing metal ceiling tiles can be a simpler process than you'd expect. With a 15/16" T-bar ceiling grid already in place, many times it just requires sliding the tin tile into place. See more details in our ceiling tile installation guide. Remember to always wear cut-resistant gloves when working with Dakota Tin products — these are real metal pieces.

Dakota Tin Patina Options
- Random Mixture: Offers the most contrast between cool, darker grey/blue galvanized coloring and warm, orange/brown rust coloring. A natural mix of majority rust, majority galvanized, and partial rust pieces. Our most popular style; recommended for large projects. Not recommended for small projects due to the high variation between pieces.
- Majority Rust: The majority of each tile has warm, orange/brown rust coverage and coloring.
- Majority Galvanized: The majority of each tile has cool, darker grey/blue antique galvanized coverage and coloring.
- Premium: The best reclaimed tin we source. Each piece is a natural mix of rust and galvanized created only by real weathering. Also flatter with less warping — recommended for smaller applications or anywhere flatness matters. Higher price point.
A note on Premium availability: Premium Barn Tin is sourced from a narrow band of the best-condition reclaimed material, which means it's harder to obtain in volume than our other reclaimed sub-styles. For larger quantities or custom panel orders in Premium, lead times can run longer than our standard 5–10 business day custom processing window. We'll confirm timing with your quote.
Environmental Benefits of "Upcycled" Barn Tin Ceiling Tiles
The Dakota Tin Collection was founded from a desire to add a real, rustic, antique, vintage, and industrial look to homes or businesses. Because they're salvaged from Midwest barn roofs and machine sheds, these corrugated tin tiles are upcycled — not recycled.
Our reclaiming process saves energy and keeps materials out of recycling centers and landfills. With recycled items, the raw material (glass, metal, paper, rubber, etc.) is broken down and reshaped into a new product. Upcycled materials, however, are repurposed products that aren't broken down — just reshaped or adjusted to suit a different purpose. Recycling is an important practice, but upcycling is generally considered a greener and more environmentally-friendly method.
