After receiving customer feedback about the need for a more consistent, yet still rustic feel free of nail holes or warps, Dakota Tin introduced the Colorado Rustic Steel collection in 2019.
All of the patterns or styles from the Colorado Rustic Collection have a more consistent, uniform color pattern and have less contrast per tile compared to the Dakota Tin Collection.
- Rusted: Pre-rusted and created with an all-natural, accelerated rust treatment. Because the solution is spray applied, rust is more evenly distributed, the result is a more even coat of copper rust color, but still with small variations of blues and greys that you’d get from the antique galvanized style.
- Galvalume: New galvanized steel, light silver, semi-sheen. NO RUST or color variation.
- Antique: Antiqued steel, dark grey look, weathered, flat texture. NO RUST or color variation. Finish wears with time (can produce white rust with exposure to moisture), will continue to age with exposure, and may scratch.
- Black: Crinkle Black has a textured appearance and feel. The backside of each Crinkle Black product is white.
- Corten A606 Weathering Steel: A thicker metal at 24 gauge. This metal is perfect for exterior and high-moisture applications. Corten weathering steel is chemically designed to naturally rust but not degrade because of the thicker metal.
Metal Landscape Edging Installation
Option 1
Items needed: Hammer & block of wood
Handling: Metal edges are sharp! Cut-Resistant gloves are required.
Instructions:
1. Remove any shipping wrapping.
2. Layout edging in the desired area.
3. Break the Sod with a spade along the line you want to install the edging. This will allow you to tap it in easier in step ##4.
4. With one hand, hold the edging upright with a block of wood (or a flat, thick object) directly on top of the edging. Tap the top of the block with the hammer (the wood block will act as a buffer to prevent damage to edging while installing) until garden edging is secured in the ground.
5. If using more than one panel of edging, use a drill to create holes at the top end and bottom end of each panel. Overlap the corrugate, and use screws to secure the two panels together.
Option 2 - Reinforce with wooden stakes
Items needed: Wooden garden stakes, self-drilling sheet metal screws, and a screw gun.
Handling: Metal edges are sharp! Cut-resistant gloves are required.
Instructions:
1. Remove any shipping wrapping.
2. Drive wooden stakes into the ground in the desired edging location.
3. Drill self-drilling sheet metal screws into the edging to secure the edging to wooden stakes.
